Margarita Díaz

Margarita Díaz is a native of San Juan, Puerto Rico. Before joining Quinnipiac in 2003, she worked as a journalist in New York City. She has traveled with students to Nicaragua and Puerto Rico. This was her first visit to Costa Rica.

Daniel DiNicola

Daniel is a graduate student of journalism, whose love of travel and all things new prompted him to travel to Costa Rica in search of stories and culture. He is excited to take on a new career path this summer in New York City as he will be interning with the Dow Jones News Fund.

Rachael Durand

Rachael is a senior journalism student who loves traveling and telling the stories of those she meets. Through her travels she has experienced many places and cultures, but traveling to Costa Rica was her first time facing a language barrier. Rachael finds joy putting pen to paper and cannot wait to write about her time with the Ticos.

Cait Fish

Caitlin is senior journalism student from Bergen County, New Jersey. After discovering a love for all things out of the ordinary she decided to study multi-media storytelling and hopes to dedicate her life to giving voice to those who are unheard.

Kerry Golden

Kerry is a senior journalism major from Albany, New York. This was her first time ever leaving the country and she is so grateful for this opportunity to immerse herself in another culture and walk away with the ability to share these stories.

Alexis Guerra

Alexis is a junior journalism student with a passion for storytelling and creativity. This was her second time in Costa Rica, and she was excited to expand her perspective through the people she met. She was honored to go on this trip and challenge herself to reach new heights with her writing.

Ryan Miller

Ryan is a junior film student, the only non-journalism major in the group. He is from Kearny, New Jersey, and looking to work in the television industry. It was his first trip to Central America, and his biggest takeaway was immersing himself in the culture and staying with the host family for the week.

Jess Ruderman

Jess is a journalist who has dreamed of experiencing the world rather than just seeing it. To her, Costa Rica is more than a country. It’s the people, the family, the friends and the experiences you can’t simply read about but she is honored to write about.

Nick Slater

Going into Costa Rica, Nick Slater was a college student looking to find his place. After a week of reporting, listening and observing in Costa Rica, he found peace in the fast-paced world of journalism. Now, he is more motivated and inspired than ever to be the change he wishes to see in the world and to achieve his wildest dreams.
